Dann C. Byck, M.D.

Dann Byck was born in Louisville, KY and completed medical school there at the University of Louisville. He then traveled to Boston for a General Surgery Internship at Boston University and an Orthopedic Trauma Fellowship at Boston City Hospital. From Boston Dr. Byck entered his Orthopedic Residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. Here he trained with leading instructors such as John Insall, Giles Scuderi, Norm Scott and David Asprinio.

In order to develop a superior level of expertise, Dr. Byck spent an extra year of training at the Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center. This Fellowship year was a truly outstanding experience where Dr. Byck studied and learned from Drs. Buddy Savoie, Larry Field, Walter Shelton and Gene Barrett. These physicians are considered amongst the world’s leaders in the fields of Sports Medicine, Arthroscopic and Reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, elbow and knee. It was during this year that Dr. Byck learned and perfected the cutting-edge surgical techniques that he has brought to his current patients.

From Mississippi, Dr. Byck practiced in Yakima, WA for two years and when he discovered the opportunity moved to Ogden and established the Utah Sports Medicine Center. As the Medical Director of the Utah Sports Medicine Center, Dr. Byck can offer the latest in non-surgical, minimally invasive and arthroscopic care of his patients. We work with a number of physical therapists, athletic trainers, sports medicine physicians and surgical personnel to offer the highest level of care at every interval of your injury treatment plan.

He also has been selected as a Master Instructor at the Arthroscopy Association of North America Master’s Shoulder Course at the Orthopaedic Learning Center in Rosemont, IL. This is a multi day course where Dr. Byck instructs Orthopedic surgeons from all over the world on the latest  techniques in shoulder arthroscopy. In addition, Dr. Byck has been selected to instruct at AANA’s yearly meetings and the Orthopaedic resident courses.  He is also serving as a Board member of the Utah State Orthopaedic Society.

Dr. Byck is currently the team physician for the Ogden Outlaws Semi-pro soccer team, Weber State University Hockey teams, Weber State Club Sports teams, The Snowbasin Development Ski team and several high schools in the Weber and Davis County areas.

Dr. Byck is married to Deanna and has two sons, Max and Jackson (pictured left-a long time ago).  He enjoys coaching his son's teams, many outdoor sports and activities and travel.
